Read this before insuring your Self Driving Electric Car

When it comes to automobile if we could think about one latest technology that has made a car stand up to its purpose as automotive then it is the concept of self driving or the technology to put the car into an autopilot mode. This is considered to be the most groundbreaking technological advancement which car lovers have been awaiting for decades which shall put us into a really modern and sophisticated world. Another innovation are the concept of Electric cars which can run on an electric power and this is also considered to be another great innovation as it gave the new hope to use automobiles even if crude oil gets depleted and other forms of energy can be used to run a car.

An electric car that reduces the dependency on fuel power and a self drive car that reduces the dependency of a driver and so a combination of an electric car which can also self drive can be the pinnacle of automotive industry’s products. Another good thing in spite of the technological sophistication these cars are still priced at an affordable rate for any average car buyer. Hence, these cars as expected are now gaining popularity among car lovers as they shall help to save effort, fuel costs and time a lot.

At the same time, though these cars are really commendable like any other cars out there they still do pose a risk and that is chances to crash or getting crashed. Whenever there is a risk the only way to manage it is with the help of an insurance. Of course there is an option to cover the risks posed by these cars too through an exclusive or special insurance but even that comes out with a glitch which is discussed further. So, here is What You Need to Know About Insuring Your Self-Driving Car, when it comes to insuring any normal car the coverage would be for the car, its driver and passengers and in case of a crash the insurance would cover the first party who is insured through it and then then would cover the third party or other cars and people involved in the crash.

In any car accident there will be one person at fault and it is from them the claim will be made for compensation of damages as they are the ones to blame but in a self drive car which person is to be blamed for the crash or an accident and in case if two self drive cars collide then who will take the blame, the car owners or the passengers or the car manufacturer and because this ambiguity it is very complicated to get a self drive car insured and the complications are more during an insurance claim. So, when you go for an insurance for a self drive or an automated car look out for the exclusions of perils and risks and coverage and then make a decision over insuring your car using that policy.

We’ve just returned from the Audi A8 world premiere here at Miami’s star-studded Design Week, and we’ve got a slew of images of the new range-topping sedan. More evolutionary than revolutionary in style, the new wundersedan is nevertheless an impressive looking piece with the visual charisma to go toe-to-toe with the celebrities that filed in to fawn over its broad shoulders.

Despite the clear heritage link to the outgoing model, there are a number of new technologies under the skin that represent firsts for the brand, including full LED headlamps that adjust their direction and throw based on the navigation system, a new development of MMI that includes a handwriting recognition feature, and an updated 4.2-liter FSI V8 engine with more power (372 horses) and an eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox. Despite being more powerful, the A8 is also more fuel efficient, with a claimed improvement of 15 percent with the aforementioned gas V8.

The slippery new shell once again rests on the brand’s Aluminum Space Frame (ASF), and Audi says the car is longer and wider than its competitors, yet it sits lower. The sleek new bodywork is good for a .26 coefficient of drag. When it comes to America late next year, the new A8 will arrive in both standard and extended-wheelbase models, and we have it on good authority that both TDI and hybrid variants will also come to the States – although the alternative fuel powertrains aren’t likely to happen right away.

Renault Fluence launched in USA

The Fluence will be the first model from the French car market for  USA and is expected to be priced between USD 20000 – 30000. est mules of the Fluence have been caught several times in and around New York where the company’s factory is located. The striking design of the Fluence makes it a radically different sedan as against other cars in the C segment available in the country.

The Fluence measures 4,618 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width, 1,488 mm in height and has 2,703 mm wheelbase. The Fluence has contemporary, yet simple interiors. We expect the top-end variant of the Fluence to feature air-conditioning for both front and rear passengers, rain sensor wipers, on-board computer, keyless start-stop, anti-whiplash headrests and airbags.

The car will come in both Petrol and Diesel variants, powered by a 2.0 litre and a 1.5 litre engine respectively. The 2.0 litre petrol engine generates 135 bhp of maximum power and 190 Nm of maximum torque while the 1.5 litre dCI diesel engine generates 106 bhp of maximum power and 240 Nm of maximum torque.

The petrol motor will likely be mated to a 6-speed automatic gear box while the diesel will come with a 6-speed manual gear box. This diesel motor is essentially the same engine that powers the Nissan Micra diesel and the Mahindra Verito diesel. However, the Fluence’s version of the 1.5 litre dCI has Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) and thus gets 42 bhp more power.

Based on various test drive reports, it has been found that the Fluence has precise steering feedback, suspension tuned for better ride quality, has less body roll and is highly stable on highway speeds.

In USA, the Renault Fluence will compete with the likes of Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Civic, Skoda Laura and Volkswagen Jetta. The Fluence will also be slightly bigger than its rivals, which might make it more appealing to ‘prestige conscious’ buyers, who prefer larger sedans.

But, since the dealerships, after sales service quality are yet to be known, the French car maker has to put in efforts for brand building. Also read: Renault upcoming launches for USA
